10/29/11 Colchester, VT No points to report this week. St. Michael’s were unable to get points on the board for the first time this season.
This one would prove to be a painful loss... literally.
Down 45 to nil at half time, it was a very disappointing display by the A team in the first half. A lot of tackles were missed. The team put together an improved performance in the second half. Jim Hughes again stood out in the forwards, making some good charges close to the ruck and putting in some strong tackles. With regular captain, Matt Foley out with a knee strain, Jim took on a leadership role and did well in a difficult situation.
Team: Nick Kyratzis, Jose Ramos, Keith Montford, James Hughes, Chris Jacob, Sam Rooney, Kevin Cote, Davis Peck, Brian Meloche, Steve Thompson, Matt Scheffler, Zach Perreault, Zach Benuck, Cameron Gonzalez, Jordan Recine. Reserves: Joseph Cassady, Mike Brown, Andy Bourque, Filip Deptula
The Killer B's were on the unfortunate end of a drubbing at the hands of American International. The guys gave a game effort, but were thoroughly beaten by a stronger, faster and more physical side.
The B’s drop their second game of the season. The first loss came last week against Providence, however, this one was a lot more comprehensive and the B’s were well and truly outplayed. Despite the score line, Filip Deptula scored one of the best tries of the year. Just 2 minutes into the second half, Fil, who was playing at fullback at the time, caught a clearing kick on his side of half way. Fil set off running straight up field, and then swerved to the right, running by 2 or 3 AIC defenders. With the cover defense coming across at him, Fil then cut sharply infield beating the defense and broke clear to run to the try line to score. A great individual try. The try was converted by Tyler Pearl.
